Images are from a representative simulation of Lsr induction in a growing bacterial colony. Lsr induced cells are in red, while uninduced cells are yellow. Over the course of the simulation, cells divided, duplicating the QS state and constituent concentration of their parent cells. As a result of division processes, cells pushed neighboring cells outward if necessary in the direction of the shortest path to unoccupied space.
