OX-6: Activated and reactive microglia. An antibody to MHC class II-positive cells (OX-6, RT1B) was used in order to examine the distribution of activated microglial cells in the hippocampal grafts. As can be seen in (C), HFHC diet saline grafts exhibited the greatest number of OX-6-positive cells compared to all other groups. Densitometry (E) confirmed these findings, and revealed a significant increase in OX-6 immunolabeled microglial cells in this group compared to the other three groups. Control + IL-1Ra grafts (n = 3) had 7 ± 1.5 activated microglia, control saline (n = 3) had 5 ± 1.5 activated microglia, HFHC + IL-1Ra (n = 5) had 6 ± 5 activated microglia, and HFHC saline (n = 5) had 18 ± 20 activated microglia.
