Caspase 3 expression was not increased 24 hours after 1 nM gp120 exposure. There was no significant difference in the average percentage of caspase-3 positive cells per field in control aggregate cultures and those treated with 1 nM gp120 or 400 μM Asc-p prior to gp120 exposure. Ten random fields of each of the three treatment groups from one culture were used for quantitative analysis. Error bars: +/- 1 standard error.
