Fixing post-publication review

Prevent statistical errors in submissions Streamline post-publication corrections
Research teams Tap statistical expertise in the design and analysis of studies from the beginning. Describe statistical analyses thoroughly.
Curate data and code so that it can be made easily available (see a registry of public data repositories here: http://www.re3data.org/).
Manuscript editors Create protocols to identify papers that need statistical scrutiny and send to qualified reviewers. Work swiftly to address readers’ concerns. Use formal expressions of concern not for condemnation but as an alert that work is under scrutiny.
Journals and publishers Require raw data and analysis code to be made available during review. Create protocols to manage concerns. State clearly who readers should contact, and train editors to navigate protocols.
Waive publication fees and paywalls for expressions of concern and retractions.
