(A) The left panel displays a traditional gene network of Ptpb1. The link between Ptbp1 and Banf1 can be dissected into 4 isoform-level linkages. (B) For each multi-isoform gene pair, we calculated the ratio of the maximum to minimum probability among all its isoform pairs as a measure of functional linkage diversity of different isoform pairs from the same gene pair. Shown here is the distribution of this ratio of 75, 512, 782 gene pairs. 25% of the gene pairs have a value larger than 3. (C) We also calculated the ratios of maximum to minimum score of multi-isoform gene pairs using a random network built with shuffled gold standard. The values fall into a short range from 0 to 1.60, suggesting the significance of functional diversity of different isoform pairs of a gene pair.
