When 1j was used as catalyst, higher catalytic activity (k_1j=1.22 h⁻¹) and enantioselectivity (98:2 er) were observed compared with bis-methyl ether catalyst 1j′ (k_1j′=2.62 × 10⁻² h⁻¹ and 66:34 er).
