The GFP and mRFP signals of tandem fluorescent LC3 (tfLC3, mRFP-GFP-LC3) show different localization patterns. HeLa cells were cotransfected with plasmids expressing either tfLC3 or LAMP1-CFP. Twenty-four h after transfection, the cells were starved in Hanks balanced salt solution for 2 h, fixed and analyzed by microscopy. The lower panels are a higher magnification of the upper panels.
