Rac1 upregulates the expression of Smad3/4 in LX-2 cells. (A and B) Western blotting indicated that the total protein of Smad3/4 in Rac1 plasmid-transfected cells was significantly increased compared with in the vector-transfected cells. (C) Smad3/4 expression was measured by immunofluorescence, and the results were consistent with those of western blotting. (D) Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction showed that the mRNA expression of α-SMA was upregulated by Rac1. Magnification, ×400.
