Extracted ion chromatograms for the metabolic profile of tazarotenic acid (A) and tazarotenic acid sulfoxide (B) by CYP26A1 and CYP26B1. Tazarotenic acid sulfoxide (TA-sulfoxide) and an additional hydroxylated metabolite of tazarotenic acid (hydroxy-TA) were identified as the primary metabolites of tazarotenic acid by CYP26A1 and CYP26B1, with subsequent conversion of tazarotenic acid sulfoxide to tazarotenic acid sulfone also observed. Data sets are offset for clarity and control traces represent incubations conducted in the absence of NADPH.
