βCA2 and βCA4.2 are located in the cytoplasm, and βCA4.1 is located in the plasma membrane. Sections of intact leaf cells of various eGFP Arabidopsis plants visualized with the confocal microscope show βCA2-eGFP and βCA4.2-eGFP fluorescence in the cytoplasm and βCA4.1-eGFP fluorescence limited to the plasma membrane. Wild-type (COL) leaves were used as a negative control.
