Figure 4

Ultraviolet-A irradiation activates p53 in HCEnCi. (A) Representative Western blot of phospho-p53 and total p53 protein levels and (B) densitometric analysis of phospho-p53 with normalization to β-actin. (C) Western blot analysis of cytosolic and nuclear phospho-p53 and total p53 in 5 J/cm2 UV-A– or NAC-pretreated cells followed by 5 J/cm2 UV-A at 6 hours recovery. Results showed that phospho-p53 increases at 24 hours post 5, 10, and 25 J/cm2 as compared with no UV-A treatment, and UV-A causes accumulation of nuclear phospho-p53.
