The H3 protein binds to GAGs on the surface of cells. (A) H3 with a His tag sequence at its C terminus was incubated with CHO-K1 cells. Bound H3 (red peak), detected with an anti-His tag antibody and a secondary antibody, yielded higher fluorescence by flow cytometry. (B) Using CHO-745 cells that do not express GAGs, H3 does not bind (red peak). In both panels, the gray peaks are a control in which H3 and anti-His tag antibody were omitted.
