Replication of wild-type RPV in vaccinated cattle. Cattle were left unvaccinated (a) or were vaccinated with the indicated vaccine or wild-type (wt) virus (b to e). All the cattle were infected with virulent RPV at 3 weeks postvaccination. RNA was extracted from whole blood taken from experimental animals at different times after challenge with virulent RPV. RPV-specific RNA was assayed by reverse-transcription/real-time PCR (RT-qPCR), and the amount of viral RNA is expressed as the mean 40-CT value, a value which increases as the amount of viral RNA increases. Values for individual animals in each group are shown.
