Neither pre- nor postnatal thiamine restriction led to any significant hair cell loss in any of the experimental groups. IHC and OHC counts are shown here from each ear from three groups as indicated: see Fig. 1 for diet details. Data are normalized to the mean counts per z-stack (spanning 78 microns of cochlear length) from Control ears. Control data are shown as means (±SEMs). In each panel, the ears represented by colored symbols are those displaying significant dysmorphology of afferent and/or efferent innervation: see Figs. 5, 6, 7, and 9, where the correspondence between symbols and case numbers is maintained.
