The climbing fiber input was delivered to the 24 proximal smooth dendritic compartments; parallel fiber (“//”) inputs to the 528 distal spiny dendritic compartments; GABAergic inhibition to all 552 dendritic compartments. CS = complex spike (truncated in the inset); SS = simple spikes, present during the combination of tonic excitation and inhibition; buzz = high-frequency oscillations, present during tonic excitation alone, at a membrane potential of ~−43 mV. Note that the buzz is replaced by a slower oscillation, immediately following a CS.
