The short-term exposure of MCF-12A cells to a high dose of ethanol upregulates the transcriptional expression of the metallothionein (MT) gene family. Cultures were maintained for 7 days in the presence of 25 mM ethanol, 2.5 mM acetaldehyde (fresh daily), or no addition.
