a

Only models that contained variables in both EHDIC and NHIS 2003 datasets were conducted. All estimates using NHIS 2003 data account for the stratified, multistage probability sampling design by applying the appropriate weights and strata variables.

b

Obese is defined as BMI ≥ 30.

Models included race, age, marital status, insurance status, household income, education level, fair/poor health, physical inactivity, smoking and drinking status, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and stroke.
