Structures proposed for Ba3Nb2O8; (A) from analysis of x-ray powder diffraction data [85], and (B) from single crystal study [75]. Large spheres represent Ba ions, smaller spheres are oxygens, and Nb ions occupy the polyhedra. The models are in agreement except that as found in (B), the [NbO6] sites were empty and that all Nb ions occupy discrete tetrahedral sites.
