Decreasing qualitative classification of collected Standard Operating Procedures from African Research Ethics Committees. The 16 African Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were qualitatively compared to a gold standard (the WHO's guidelines) and then classified in a decreasing manner with regards to the proportion of fully described criteria. Of the 16 SOPs, SOPs number 6, 13, 3, 12, 16 and 7 had more than 70 % of criteria that were fully described (highlighted by a blue shadow on the left). The SOPs of the Ethics Review and Consultancy Committee of the Cameroon Bioethics Initiative (CAMBIN) were also above the threshold of 70 % (highlighted by a blue shadow on the right)
