Figure 3

Dose-dependent effects of docosahexenoic acid (DHA) on matrix metalloproteinase-13 (MMP-13) protein expression in interleukin (IL)-1β-induced SW1353 cells. (A) SW1353 cells were incubated for 24 h with IL-1β in the presence or absence of DHA. MMP-13 protein level in the supernatant was measured by ELISA. (B) Total protein was extracted from cell pellets and MMP-13 protein expression was determined by western blotting. DHA suppressed MMP-13 protein expression in IL-1β-induced SW1353 cells (either supernatant or total protein) in a dose-dependent manner. *P<0.05, compared with non-treatment control; #P<0.05, compared with cells stimulated with IL-1β alone.
