Localization of LRFN2 at synapses in the hippocampus CA1 stratum radiatum with EM/DAB immunoperoxidase (a, b) or immunogold (c–i). DAB labeling is found in patches throughout the postsynaptic spine (a) and in the presynaptic terminals also (b; arrowheads). Immunogold labeling for LRFN2 (5 nm gold; arrowheads) co-localizes with labeling for the NMDA receptor subunit, NR1 (15 nm gold) in the postsynaptic membrane/density (d, f, g; f is very oblique).
