Cytokine response of human cells to preincubation with iC3b-coated beads followed by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation. Monocytes (n = 20) (top), day 2 monocyte-derived macrophages (n = 29) (middle), and neutrophils (n = 26) (bottom) were preincubated with iC3b-coated beads for 1 hour prior to LPS stimulation (10 ng/ml). Cytokines were quantified using a bead multiplex assay, and the levels with and without CR3 pre-engagement with iC3b are shown. Data are expressed as mean ± SEM, paired t-test.
