Levels of cytokine mRNA relative to GAPDH (fold change values ± SEM) after injury with fadrozole administration in adult male and female zebra finches. Fadrozole administration resulted in sustained elevation of TNF-α and cox-2 in both males and females compared with injured controls, with males having a more pronounced increase of TNF-α. Aromatase inhibition also resulted in a sustained elevation of IL-1β but is evident only in females.
