Logit models control for mother characteristics (age, race/ethnicity, education, income-to-needs ratio, and marital status), and baseline state and year fixed-effects; errors are clustered at the baseline state level (see equation 1). Logit-FE models control for year fixed-effects (see equation 2).

The sample interviewed after 2008 includes years 2009 and 2010.

T-statistics are shown in brackets; bold font indicates that the result is statistically significant at the 95% level of confidence.
