A comparison of the outcomes of pathogenic CVS-11 and attenuated HEP-Flury infections. The groups of BALB/c mice (n = 10) were infected with 10⁴ FFU of either CVS-11 or HEP-Flury i.n. and PBS mock-infected mice served as the controls. The mice were observed for 50 days, the survival (A) and the body weight (B) are presented. Three mice per group were euthanized at each indicated time point, and the quantity of genomic RNA in brain tissue samples was measured by RT-qPCR (C). The anti-rabies antibody (RV-Ab) titers in serum were determined as described in Materials and Methods, and are presented as mean titers (D). ND, not detected.
