The x-axis scale reflects the relative timing of each survey. At least moderate use alcohol was defined as follows: in the week prior to survey, exceeded 28 standard drinks (SD) (1 SD = 10 g of alcohol) in males and 14 SDs in females. High-risk drinking was defined as follows: exceeded 43 SDs in males and 28 SDs in females.
