MAO enzymatic activity in the frontal cortex of control and binge ethanol rats receiving either no drug or a MAOI were examined using liquid scintillation spectroscopy. (A) MAO-A catalytic activity was significantly increased by binge ethanol. Rasagiline and M30 reduced MAO-A catalytic activity in both control and binge ethanol groups. (B) MAO-B catalytic activity was significantly increased by binge ethanol. All MAOIs (selegiline, rasagiline, M30) significantly decreased MAO-B activity.
