Micro-CT Maximum Intensity Projections for Klk4−/− and Amtn/Klk4 Double Null (A−/−K−/−) Hemi-mandibles. The Klk4−/− mice vary in the location of where higher density enamel starts to become visible, which indicates the progression of enamel maturation (growth of enamel crystals in width and thickness). In the Amtn−/−Klk4−/− mice the higher density enamel is consistently first observed mesial to reference line between the first and second molars and is initially very thin, suggesting that maturation of the enamel away from the surface is especially delayed.
