These lateral images are used for descriptive purposes only and were not used for the dorsal-view observations reported in this study. (A) Major lateral papillae (MLP). Four MLP expressed in this photo, but the suppression of the anterior 2 MLP is also expressed. (B) Dorsal eye papillae (DEP), Posterior mantle tip papillae (PMTP), Finline papillae (FLP). (C) Coarse skin. (D) Glutapods (GP) though this animal is swimming, animals will use their glutapods to “walk” on the bottom of their environment, giving them the appearance of a tetrapod.
