The increase of ABCA1 expression induced by NaHS is mediated by PPARα. (A) Total proteins and nuclear proteins of HepG2 cells were prepared after NaHS treatment (100 μM for 2 h). Samples of the proteins were subjected to Western blot with antibodies against LXRα, RXRα, and PPARα. GAPDH were used as the loading controls. The blots of nuclear PPARα were then quantified by ImageJ software (n = 3, * p < 0.05 vs. control); (B) HepG2 cells were pretreated with PPARα antagonists GW6471 (25 μM) for 14 h, followed by additional NaHS (100 μM) treatment for 8 h. Cell lysates were collected and probed with anti-ABCA1 and tubulin antibodies (n = 3, ** p < 0.01 vs. DMSO; ^# p < 0.05 vs. NaHS).
