  • Demyelination

  • Bizarre astrocytes

  • Oligodendrocytes containing nuclear inclusion bodies

Detection of JCV DNA or protein
Probable Positive JCV-specific PCR in CSF

Typical clinical and MRI findings
Possible Typical clinical and MRI findings
WITH
Brain biopsy and lumbar puncture not performed or JCV DNA not detected in CSF
AND
No other alternative diagnosis
