Clinical PBM dose delivery involves multiple terminology and objective treatment parameters that are often inaccurately reported. The term laser irradiance refers to the power output at laser probe/array. The treatment surface irradiance is the true irradiance of energy delivered to biological tissue interface. Accurate reporting of precise device parameters, especially treatment surface irradiance, should improve reproducibility and rigorous effectiveness of PBM treatment protocols. PBM, photobiomodulation.
