In trial 1 fish were kept at 12°C during the run-in period of 216 d before tanks were split and continued at 12 and 6°C for 142 and 202 d, respectively. In trial 2 the run-in period consisted of 112 d at 8°C and 46 d of acclimatisation to experimental tanks and temperatures. The trial period lasted for 151 d at 12°C.
