¹³C allocation of position-specific¹³C-labeled malate (¹³C-1, ¹³C-4) and pyruvate (¹³C-1, ¹³C-2) to metabolic fractions in Halimium halimifolium and Oxalis triangularis. The label-induced ¹³C increase corrected for non-labeling conditions (Δ_Label, ‰) indicates the amount of total ¹³C allocated to leaf metabolic fractions. Mean Δ_Label values for the two harvests (20 min light or 20 min light and 20 min dark) were calculated, since no significant light–dark differences were observed for Δ_Label, except for lipids in plants fed with ¹³C-2 pyruvate, which showed higher δ¹³C values in the dark than in the light (Table 2).
