All targeted nanoparticle formulations were pooled together and incubated with T6-17 cells in the presence of serum supplemented culture medium. Cell uptake was calculated as a relative factor of the starting concentration of lanthanide metal in each Ln-SPIO variant and total lanthanide tracer found in cell pellets. All three samples exhibited statistically significant (p < 0.01) improvements in cell uptake as compared to the non-targeted control.
