Elastic fibers in cartilage are stained purple, collagen fibers in bones and tendons are stained red, muscles are stained yellow, and the cell nucleus is stained black. The signal for elastic fibers in the remaining joint was lost at 50 and 70 days after amputation (arrowheads).
