Contrast-weighted t-values in ROIs and surrounding concentric rings of 1–4 voxels from the original ROI. Children activated more diffuse regions than adults in the middle temporal gyrus, but not in the inferior parietal lobule or fusiform gyrus. There was a notable, but nonsignificant, trend in the fusiform gyrus for more diffuse tool preferences in children compared with adults.
