Formation of glyoxylate was measured over the reaction times in a 2 mL diffusion chamber with (▲) and without (●) a low molecular cutoff cellulose membrane to separate EmoA from EmoB. Without the membrane, a direct transfer of FMNH2 from EmoB to EmoA is allowed. However, with the membrane, FMNH2 can only be transferred to EmoA by diffusion through the media.
