Fmr1 KO mice display reduced levels of anxiety in the active phase. A, By measuring the ratio of distance traveled in the center to total distance traveled, testing in the open field environment revealed that Fmr1 KO (n=31) mice had an increased relative distance traveled in the center, indicating reduced anxiety compared with controls (n=25). This is represented by a statistically significant main effect of genotype. B, Testing in the elevated plus maze showed that Fmr1 KO (n=35) mice spent a significantly greater percentage of time in the open arms compared with controls (n=27) (∗∗∗, p < 0.001).
