Figure 3

Effects of electroacupuncture on long-term potentiation in Alzheimer's disease rats.

Data are expressed as the mean ± SD, with eight rats in each group. Intergroup data were compared with one-way analysis of variance. Compared with the normal group, the increased population spike amplitude was significantly lower in the model group (P < 0.05). The population spike amplitude in the 2 Hz and 50 Hz electroacupuncture groups was higher than in the model group, but lower than in the normal group (P < 0.05). The increased population spike amplitude was higher in the 50 Hz electroacupuncture group than in the 2 Hz electroacupuncture group (P < 0.05). The increased population spike amplitude was similar between the normal and sham surgery groups and sham acupuncture and model groups (P > 0.05). PS: Population spike; HFS: high-frequency stimulus.
