Higher levels of anti-var2CSA antibodies are induced by infection with P. berghei-VAR than by P. berghei infection. Sera were collected from mice that were repeatedly infected with P. berghei-VAR or P. berghei IEs and cured with chloroquine. Anti-var2CSA IgG antibody titers were determined by ELISA using 0.1 μg/ml of recDBL1-6 coating; *, P < 0.05 (Mann-Whitney test). Note that sera from P. berghei-infected mice also recognized recDBL1-6.
