Parasite load in post‐kala‐azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) lesion tissues. The parasite load (parasites/µg tissue DNA) was determined in PKDL (monomorphic, n = 6; polymorphic, n = 13) by real‐time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Statistical significance was determined by non‐parametric Mann–Whitney test between polymorphic and monomorphic forms of dermal lesions in active PKDL cases.
