The periodic pattern of the Dickeya dadantii 3937 KdgR regulon was analysed⁶,⁹ (Supplementary Table S1). Periods (vertical bars) that were multiples of some lower one (labelled on the leftmost bar) were plotted on the same row in logarithmic scale. Three harmonic families of periods emerged. Furthermore, all families converged on periods 166,688 and 333,036 bp (long grey bars), which themselves are in a ratio of 1.998.
