During the early infection stage, megalocytivirus upregulates the expression of pol-miR-731, which in turn inhibits IRF7 and p53 expression, leading to restriction of Type I interferon response and inhibition of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest, respectively, thus promoting megalocytivirus infection.
