Morphology of IBA-1-stained microglia was assessed using the AnalyzeSkeleton function in ImageJ. Microglia in female HIV-1 transgenic rats exhibited enhanced ramification characterized by an increased number of branches (A), junctions (B), and maximum branch length (C). Stress did not impact microglial morphology, and the average branch length was unchanged in any group (D).
