Visual error size and choice behavior in experiment 1. For the Spatial condition of experiment 1, we examined whether the size of the visual error, the distance between the cursor and the target, affected choice behavior. To this end, we analyzed the miss trials that led to target choice switches, dividing them, for each participant, into five equally spaced bins based on the size of the observed visual cursor error (µ error ≈ 0.35 cm). An ANOVA revealed that the size of the visual feedback error on miss trials did not influence the likelihood that the participant would change their target preference after such trials [F(4,95) = 0.49, P = 0.75].
