Total number of entries and time spent in the open and enclosed arms of the elevated plus maze was evaluated. An animal's preference for open arms was expressed as a ratio of open-arm time over closed-arm time. Data are presented as mean±SEM. Treated animals were compared with their controls using a two-way ANOVA with Bonferroni post hoc analysis. Differences in anxiety following stress were determined for each strain by comparing treated animals with their respective controls.
