Microgel coatings reduce in vitro mixed glial cell adhesion on electrodes. Electrodes were plated with mixed glial cells (astrocytes and microglia) and cultured for 24 hours. Samples were stained using LIVE/DEAD stain (Invitrogen) and imaged using fluorescence microscopy (a). Cell spreading area was analyzed using ImageJ to determine the amount of cell spread area for each group (b). Microgel coatings reduced cell adhesion on the electrode surface compared to uncoated controls (p<0.01). Data is presented as mean ± standard error of the mean, n=3 electrodes. Scale bars = 100μm.
