Arrested doublets have larger strains at smaller droplet radii as a result of the increased interfacial curvature and Laplace pressure that drives the droplets together. Higher pressures further compress the internal elastic structure, resisting complete coalescence. The line is a plot of the prediction of the physical model showing the strong effect of drop radius on the ultimate doublet arrested strain. (Online version in colour.)
