C5aR1 augments the IL-1β response during LPS-induced endotoxemia. Wild-type and C5aR1^−/− mice (n ≥ 5 mice per group) were injected i.p. with LPS (10 mg/kg body weight) and plasma was harvested after 8 hours. IL-1β production was determined by ELISA with plasma protein levels expressed as means ± standard error of the mean. Results showed that a loss of C5aR1 in vivo attenuates the LPS-activated IL-1β response. Wt = wild type.
